Member of the network since 2010

Meds& Food for Kids (MFK) is an independent non-profit organization (NGO) manufacturing Ready-to-Use Foods (RUFs) located in Cap Haitian, Haiti. 

MFK was established in 2003 with the mission to prevent and treat malnutritionin Haiti through the local production and distribution of nutritious foods.

Malnutritionrates in Haiti are high, with one in five children under 5 chronically malnourished (stunting), and one in ten with acute malnutrition (wasting).

In 2010, MFK became a member of the PlumpyField® network of Nutriset, an international network of independent local producers of RUFs dedicated to promoting nutritional autonomy in the developing world.

Message from the Manager

“Since 2003, we are dedicated to saving the lives of Haiti’s malnourished children and other nutritionally vulnerable people. While we currently work in Haiti to produce Medika Mamba, MFK’s life-saving therapeutic food, we can’t keep up with the need. Joining the PlumpyField® network will enable us to build a new state-of-the-art factory. We will thus treat more severely malnourished children through increased production, while at the same time introduce supplementary foods that can help prevent childhood malnutrition. We’ll go from helping 8,000 to 80,000 children a year. We will also foster economic development by creating more jobs, buying more peanuts and helping more families.”
