Main characteristics, target population and benefits obtained

Plumpy’soy® is a ready-to-use food designed for the nutritional support of people whose daily food consumption contains neither the macronutrients nor the micronutrients they need. It is particularly suited to people at risk of malnutrition in emergency situations (displaced populations or refugees, victims of natural catastrophes), as well as to the prevention of malnutrition in vulnerable people (high level of food insecurity), sick people (hospitalised patients, people infected with HIV/AIDS or tuberculosis, etc.) or those who are convalescing. Plumpy’soy® can be given as a food supplement to people from the age of 2 up.

Plumpy’soy® is a peanut-based paste with vegetable fat, sugar, maltodextrin, soy, whey and cocoa, enriched with vitamins and micronutrients, which contains no ingredients of animal origin (except for the dairy ingredients).

As Plumpy’soy® is ready-to-use, it requires no preparation, no dilution in water prior to use, no cooking, and it can be consumed direct from the sachet. Plumpy’soy® can be used up to 12 months after the date of manufacture. Once it is opened, a sachet can be consumed through the day.
