On December 19, 2017, Mr. Jean-Yves LE DRIAN, Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, and Mr. Thomas COUAILLET, Deputy Executive Director of Nutriset, renewed a partnership agreement to respond to food emergencies during humanitarian crises overseas.
In 2017, under this agreement, Nutriset provided humanitarian assistance operations in Iraq, supported by the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs crisis and support center, with two tonnes of ready-to-use food products with high nutritional value.
The private sector is playing a growing and indispensable role in the management of emergency humanitarian situations, enabling its mobilization and synergies to optimize relief operations
The cooperation between the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs crisis and support center and business foundations, family foundations, enterprises and associations, takes various forms such as in-kind donations, sponsorship of skills or co-financing of ambitious and innovative projects.
Regarding the agreement with Nutriset, to the extent possible, the nutritional products will be made available through the promotion of local production, particularly the company's network of agribusiness partners: PlumpyField®.
This network, initiated by Nutriset in 2005, allows the production of food with high nutritional value closer to where the needs are, and therefore acts as a lever for economic development through job creation and support upstream and downstream operators on the value chain through the valorization of local raw materials.
